Welcome to Sport Lisburn

Sport Lisburn, (formerly known as Lisburn Sports Advisory Council) has been working since 1972 to ensure that the residents of the City of Lisburn receive the Sports Development services and assistance provided by this local organisation.
 
Sport Lisburn is funded by, and works closely with, Lisburn City Council. Amongst its executive members, who are elected annually from representatives of local sporting groups within the Council area, are two Councillors nominated by Lisburn City Council. Sport Lisburn strives to assist a positive sporting experience, when possible, for all ages within the City. It also assists and acknowledges those Lisburn residents who have made particular achievements in their chosen sport, whether it is at a local or international level. Members meet monthly in order to discuss matters of local sporting concern and interest.
 
Objectives
The objectives of the Council shall be:
  1. To assist in the assessment of sporting needs in the City of Lisburn and to advise on provision of activities to meet those needs.
  2. To provide a forum for local sports and to advise Lisburn City Council of the collective opinions of local sports interest.
  3. To compile and maintain an up-to-date record of facilities and affiliated sporting organisations.
  4. To work with appropriate partners to increase participation in sport.
  5. To advise and support the effective use of existing and proposed sporting facilities.
  6. To promote sport in co-operation with other interested bodies.
 
To provide financial support to individual residents and affiliated sports clubs who meet Sport Lisburn's criteria for financial assistance.
Sport Lisburn administers two grant award schemes (club or individual), along with regular awards to recognise an outstanding performance achieved by a team or individual during the year (see Sporting Achievement of the Month). Sport Lisburn also organises many sporting events within the City.
