Sport Lisburn - Get Active, Stay Fit

Junior Clubmark and Goldclub Awards Scheme

Sport Lisburn, in conjunction with Lisburn City Council's Leisure Services Department, have recognised the need to identify and develop quality junior clubs in the City of Lisburn. This is why they are actively promoting the Sports Council Northern Ireland's Junior Clubmark and Goldclub awards.

The aim of these awards is for clubs to have a framework that enables sports National Governing Bodies and their affiliated clubs to set and meet standards that will lead to better quality sports provision for children and young people. In particular, the standards are designed to ensure that clubs provide a safe, effective, childfriendly environment in which young people can participate in sports. The award is to assist sports clubs to put the following key elements in place:
  1. Have identified junior club coordinator.
  2. Have established links with schools.
  3. Provide quality coaching for all young people.
  4. Involve parents.
  5. Provide coach and administrator training.
  6. Provide links to a senior club.
  7. Have the support of the whole club.
  8. Recognise the contribution made by young people.

The benefits of the scheme include:
  • Raised profile for the club.
  • Increased Membership.
  • Increased opportunities for funding.
